Venue overview
AFAS Live is a purpose-built concert hall in Amsterdam Zuidoost. It sits opposite the wider ArenA entertainment district, so it benefits from excellent regional transport while sharing the same post-show crowd pressure as the neighbouring stadium and arena.
Get there and back
Access and transport
Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station is the primary hub. Intercity and local trains, metro lines and buses provide several ways into the district, followed by a short pedestrian route to the venue.
For a central Amsterdam stay, compare train and metro options on the day rather than relying on one saved itinerary. For an airport arrival, allow recovery time for flight or rail disruption before committing to a same-evening show.
Driving is possible in the district, but parking availability and exit queues vary with the event calendar. Public transport is usually the simpler plan for an international visitor.
Build in margin
When to arrive
Use the opening time shown on the official event listing. Reaching the district around an hour before doors is a comfortable default for most visitors, with additional margin for accessibility support or ticket collection. It is deliberately a conditional recommendation, not a venue rule.
Pack for the current rule
Bags, entry and venue rules
- AFAS Live currently limits bags to A4 size and roughly 10 cm thick. Larger items must be left outside the venue, with a third-party Lockerpoint cited nearby.
- Lockers after security are intended for accepted personal items, not oversize luggage. Arrive with a compact bag even if you expect to use a locker.
- Bars operate cashlessly according to the practical-information page. Carry a working payment card or compatible device and check event-specific notices before departure.

Accessibility planning
The main entrance and auditorium are on ground level. The venue describes a wheelchair platform for standing shows and dedicated front positions for some seated layouts.
Accessible toilets are listed on each floor. Ticket routes and exact positions depend on the event layout, so book through the official channel and confirm requirements in advance.
Shape the evening
Where to stay and eat
ArenA Boulevard provides casual food and hotels within walking distance. For more atmosphere, eat elsewhere in Amsterdam and travel to the venue after the peak commute. Avoid a tight post-show restaurant booking: release times and station crowd controls are not predictable.
Quick notes
Practical notes
- Bring a payment method that works internationally; the venue is cashless.
- Do not count on internal lockers for a cabin bag or shopping bag.
- Agree on a meeting point outside the security queue before your group separates.
